The opponent can still come and say that scenarios exist in which the tradition developed or appeared to the People of Israel, even if the event itself did not occur. As we have already explained, relying on tradition is the more logical and rational default. In these cases, the “if” and “maybe” arguments without providing any proof can be raised any time. But, the anomaly of this tradition compared to the traditions of other nations or peoples singles out Judaic tradition.
What traditions of such mass revelation can develop naturally without a real supernatural revelation behind them?
Why is it so difficult to find a similar tradition in other groups or religions?
After all, there are countless stories about revelations to individuals, such as miracles, founding myths, and various legends. Why is there no other nation that has developed or been implanted with a constitutive story where its Biblical ancestors were all witnesses to the status in which GOD was revealed to them, leading them over a long period of time in visible miracle and then giving them Torah?
If this story was invented by the priests or kings of the People of Israel at some later period, why did the priests and kings of other peoples not invent similar stories, and persuade their people who were keen on following their pronunciations to believe them?
The Torah itself emphasizes the uniqueness of this revelation:
“For the LORD your GOD is a merciful GOD; he will not abandon or destroy you or forget the covenant with your Biblical ancestors, which he confirmed to them by oath.
Ask now about the former days, long before your time, from the day GOD created human beings on the earth; ask from one end of the heavens to the other. Has anything so great as this ever happened, or has anything like it ever been heard of?
Has any other people heard the voice of GOD speaking out of fire, as you have, and lived?
Has any god ever tried to take for himself one nation out of another nation, by testing, by signs and wonders, by war, by a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, or by great and awesome deeds, like all the things the LORD your GOD did for you in Egypt before your very eyes?” Deuteronomy 4:31-34
